Where Camp Kesem Happens
As a part of the camp planning process, campuses rent a camp facility for the week of camp. Campsites that we rent are ACA accredited, and are often YMCA, Girl Scout, or other professional camping venues. Campsites have various facilities for activities- often including a swimming pool, ropes course, climbing wall, sports fields/courts, and other programming space. Please visit each campus’s website for details on their specific campsite.
A Day at Camp
Every day at Camp Kesem gives campers an opportunity to try something new, make great friends, and HAVE FUN! Each Camp Kesem is a little bit different, but all of them follow a similar daily schedule.
WAKE UP
BREAKFAST, SONGS
Meals at Camp Kesem are always tons of fun- and a great time cabin bonding! Three meals each day are prepared by the campsite staff, and most dietary restrictions can be accommodated. There is always time reserved at meals for some great camp songs!
MORNING ACTIVITY ROTATIONS
During daily rotations, campers travel with their unit (boys and girls in the same age group) from activity to activity. Rotation areas include arts and crafts, sports, drama, and adventure and nature. Each rotation is led by program counselors who plan a variety of exciting events for the week of camp.
CABIN TIME
Everybody needs a little down time! During “Cabin Time,” campers have a chance to relax with their bunkmates, tidy up, and write letters home. Cabin time is dispersed throughout the day to keep up everyone’s energy level (counselors included!)
SWIMMING
A favorite activity at Camp Kesem, swimming gives everyone a chance to cool off. Some camps have a pool, some have a lake, and some even have both! There are options available for children of all swimming abilities.
LUNCH, SONGS
REST TIME
All campers and counselors need their rest! For an hour each afternoon our campers and counselor rest and participate in quiet activites inside their cabins. Rest time is a chance for more cabin bonding, and for everyone to re-energize for the afternoon activities!
AFTERNOON ACTIVITY ROTATIONS
FREE ROTATION
Campers get to choose where they want to go for their free rotation. This gives everyone a chance to spend a little extra time in a favorite program area.
DINNER, SONGS
ALL-CAMP ACTIVITY
Every evening, the entire camp participates in an all-camp activity, whether it be a giant game of capture the flag, a talent show, or a surprise event!
CABIN CHAT, LIGHTS OUT
Before bedtime, campers gather in their cabins and have a "Cabin Chat." “Cabin Chats” give everyone in the cabin the chance to speak in a comfortable atmosphere about anything on their mind- from thoughts on their day at camp to their experiences at home- their favorite color to their favorite vacation. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Once Cabin Chat is finished, all of the campers and counselors go to sleep to get ready for a fun-filled tomorrow!
