The program is an extension of
the Teen Program, but will allow the 17 & 18 year olds to have more
of a leadership role at camp and even have the opportunity to train to
become like Camp Kesem counselors. CIT counselors will also be more
involved with the camp planning process prior to camp, whether it be
planning activities for the week of camp itself or fundraising. CITs
will also be allowed to attend a counselor training session and an
Executive Board meeting.
The philosophy of
the program is that the CK experience shouldn't just end at age 16. Our
organization emphasizes that we are a family, and will support each
other no matter what, which means that age should not stop anyone from
being a part of this family, incredible experience, and support network.
Another hope for the program is that those in the CIT program will
possibly go on to participate in or create their own Camp Kesem chapter
once they arrive at college, thus expanding our network even further and
offering services to those who need it. And also, who better to be a
Camp Kesem counselor than Camp Kesem camper alum anyway?
