Kesem (n.): magic; the ability to change a life; an agent of growth; the unique power that transforms kids into Camp Kesem Campers
About Us
The Camp Kesem Emory chapter was founded in February 2008. Since then we have held our kickoff carnival and two successful week-long summer camps. In August 2009, we held our first camp at Camp Toccoa in Toccoa, GA with 18 campers. Last summer (July 2010), we had 31 campers and enjoyed a fun-filled week at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA. We are in the process of planning for next summer and plan to accept 50 campers!
Camp Kesem is a fun place where kids can have fun and just be kids, and at the same time make valuable friendships to lean on for support. Our camp is completely free of charge for children aged 6 to 13. We also have a Teen Camp, for teens ages 14-16. This program consists of leadership-building activities, teamwork exercises and community service project. This program will take place with the general camp, but will include some different age appropriate activities.
