Brooke “Blossom” Beermann: Hey hey HEY! My name is Blossom and I am a 3rd year Health and Human Sciences major at Loyola Marymount University! I’m originally from Denver, Colorado, so I love exploring Los Angeles! This is my second year with Camp Kesem and I am so excited to work alongside Lasagna this year to help bring endless Kesem love and magic to such amazing and inspiring kiddos! I can’t wait for more s’mores, songs, and smiles this summer!
Samantha “Lasagna” Davis: Hi there! I’m Lasagna, one of CK LMU’s Co-Directors! I’m a senior philosophy major from Los Angeles. I’m a member of Alpha Phi, the Phi Sigma Tau philosophy honors society, and host a radio show on KLMU. I joined Camp Kesem because of my interest in bioethics and because I want to make a difference in the lives of those in adverse medical circumstances in whatever way I can. I’m so excited to continue working as a director to put on another camp for the great kiddos that Kesem serves!
Hannah “Sunflower” Polayes: HI FRIENDS! My name is Sunflower and I am a sophomore marketing major with a minor in theatre from the Bay Area. I am the Vice President of Alpha Phi on campus and enjoy hiking, laying on the beach, eating all kinds of food, and singing/acting! I joined Camp Kesem because of my love for children and want to help those who have been affected by cancer. Fun fact: I am trained in doing gymnastic on horses!
Maddie “Poptart” Deposo: Hi everyone! I’m Poptart! I’m LMU’s Marketing and Public Relations (AMP) Co-Coordinator! I am a senior Communications Studies major with a Political Science minor from Orange County, CA. I’m also a member of Alpha Phi and the Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honors Society at LMU. I joined Camp Kesem because I want to use my passion for helping others to bring joy to children who had to grow up too soon and allow them to forget about their struggles at home—even if its just for a week at camp!
Joanie “Sour Patch” Searle: Hi! My name is Sour Patch! I am one of the Development Co-coordinators! I am originally from Orange County, California, and I am currently a senior theatre arts major. I am a member of Alpha Phi and love to watch movies and hang out with my friends, family and dogs! I am so excited to be a part of camp Kesem for a second year! I couldn’t wait to join last year, as I have a passion for helping others and working with kids!
Meabh “Bobo” Scally: Hey there friends! My name is Bobo and I am a development coordinator for LMU CK! I cannot wait to be apart of Camp Kesem for a second year. This organization means so much to me and I am so grateful for the love and joy that it has brought so many, including myself. Fun fact about me: Blossom and I just recently found out we are cousins!
Catherine “Kit Kat” Trefzger: Hi there, it’s Kit Kat here, LMU’s Operations Coordinator! I’m a senior Health and Human Sciences major from Orange County. I’m actively involved as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta! I joined Camp Kesem because of my love for kids and my commitment to help others, especially those affected by a medical issue. I’m so thankful and excited to be a part of Camp Kesem for a second year!
Chris “Simba” Hartman: Hi, its Chris Hartman from Camp Kesem! I am your Outreach Co-Coordinator this year and I’m excited for a great camp ahead. I’m a sophomore at Loyola Marymount University majoring in entrepreneurship and economics. I am involved on campus in Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and work as a financial literacy instructor to high schools in the Westchester area. I joined Camp Kessem because I want to make a difference in the community and help create fun and safe camp experiences similar to the ones I had as a kid. So excited to be working with everyone involved in Kesem this year!
Mia “Quesadilla” Samson: Hi! I’m Mia Samson and I’m CK LMU’s newest Outreach Co-Coordinator. I’m a junior economics major from Marin County, California. At LMU I’m involved with Student Workers and I work in the LMU CARES office! I joined Camp Kesem because I love being around kids and wanted to find a new way to give back to the community. I’m so excited to be a part of giving our families a great camp experience this coming summer!
Michael “M&M” Messina: Greetings! I’m M&M and I am the treasurer for LMU Camp Kesem. I am a senior economics major from Orange County, California. I love baseball, long walks on the beach, and going to concerts! I love working with Camp Kesem and making a difference for so many kids, I can’t wait for camp this summer and hope to make it the best we can!
Brandon “Bubbles” Lawler: Hello friends! My name is Bubbles and I am a volunteer coordinator here at Camp Kesem. I am an entrepreneurship major from Seattle and am a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. I joined Camp Kesem to spread the love to all the kids at camp who are going through tough times. I love sports, food, and travel. I was abroad in Germany for half of my junior year and I am continuing to plan trips around the world. I can’t wait for camp this summer!
In addition to the year-round support, services, and training we receive from Kesem National,
we are grateful to those who provide support to our local Camp Kesem chapter including:
Our Advisory Board who provides ongoing guidance to our chapter’s leadership team.
Our corporate and foundation donors who provide critical resources to help fund the services we deliver locally.
The many retail and service providers who offer in-kind support for our summer camp as well as many or our year-round services.
Countless individuals – including our families and friends who honor our commitment to Camp Kesem with their financial support and unwavering encouragement.
Kesem’s national staff of over 30 professionals is involved in all aspects of establishing and supporting each of our 100+ chapters nationwide as well as the training and oversight of all college student leaders. Our leadership program has been developed over the last 17 years and, while both rigorous and demanding, is focused on providing the highest level of support, service and safety for the children who participate in our programs.
The Kesem Program Director for this chapter (see below) is involved in all aspects of camp and our additional services. While your local student leaders are your primary contact for questions, you are also welcome and encouraged to contact their Program Director with other specific questions.
Chelsea joined the Camp Kesem National staff as a Regional Program Director for the Southern California region in 2018. A Sacramento native, she made the jump to SoCal to attend UCLA, where is was involved with Kesem all four years. She graduated with a degree in Sociology and Education, and a passion for working with children. Even though she misses her dog back in Sacramento, she loves living in LA. In her free time, you can find Chelsea eating ice cream, catching up on the latest in pop culture, going to concerts, or exploring the city.
