Hannah “Luau” Thel: Hello!! My name is Luau and I am a senior studying computer science and biology. I’m so excited to work with the Outreach and Public Relation/ Make the Magic teams this year! Outside of class, I love to row, walk around Boston, read and knit. Camp Kesem is my favorite place on earth and I’m so excited to make this the best year yet.
Matthew “Buzz” Wu: Hiya friends! My name is Buzz and I’m a Senior from Vermont studying Computer Science at MIT. Camp Kesem is my favorite family around and I’m sooooo pumped for this year! I’m the Director of Development of Operations and cannot wait to work with Clover, Luau, and the rest of Coord Board to make this the best year of CK ever!! When I’m not singing Camp songs or hacking the interwebs, you’ll find me playing basketball, exploring the outdoors, and staying behind the Lumen Line.
Adedoyin “Clover” Oleratu-Olagbegi: Hi everyone, I’m Clover, one of the directors for this year! I’m incredibly pumped to be leading the Volunteer and Teen committees, aka Volunteen! I’m a junior at MIT studying computer science and economics, and outside of classes, I love dancing, eating, and hanging with friends. We have an awesome squad working all year-round to make Camp 2019 the best one yet, and I can’t wait to see everything come together!
Emily “Ginger” Condon: Hey guys! My name is Ginger, and I’m a sophomore from Southern California studying a mix of Environmental Engineering, Literature, and Political Science at MIT! I’m super pumped to be part of PR and organizing Make the Magic this year with Joy and Luau! When I’m not singing my favorite camp songs, I’m playing volleyball, scootering to class, or jamming to the best tunes. I’m already counting down the days til camp!
Emily “Joy” O’Rourke: Hi friends! My name is Joy and I’m a sophomore majoring in physics and biology from the sunny west Texas town of El Paso. I am so excited to be on the PR committee and share CLAM with the world. Besides camp, some of my favorite things are calligraphy, homemade Mexican food, and watching the sunset. This will be my second year at camp and I can’t wait!
Allison “Beans” Pinto: Hi everyone! I’m Beans! I’m a sophomore from Michigan majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Product Design! I love playing lacrosse, hanging out with friends and going on fun adventures when I can! I’m super excited to be a part of Development this year with Abu, C-Diddy and Buzz! I can’t wait for my second year of CK to be even better than the last!
Cody “C-DIDDY” Durr: I am a sophomore from Upstate New York studying computer science. I’m specifically really interested in cybersecurity. Outside of CK I’m on the Varsity Soccer Team and a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Additionally, I’m doing a UROP in CSAIL doing cybersecurity research. Fun Fact: My favorite food is raisin Bran.
Jen “Abu” Fox: Hi everyone! I’m Abu, a sophomore from Massachusetts’ deepest central suburbia studying urban planning. I’m beyond excited to join the Development team with Buzz, Beans, and C-Diddy and put the FUN in fundraising!! I love rock climbing, coffee, and sustainable public transit, and I’m already so hype to have fun with all of our amazing campers again at my second CK summer :)!
Ryan “Bugz” Scerbo: Hey hey I’m Bugz! I’m a junior from New Hampshire studying Aerospace Engineering. When I’m not making paper airplanes, I am up in the mountains or out on the field playing sports, anything that can keep me moving! CK is one of my favorite things in life and I am crazy excited to be planning camp this year alongside Flash and Buzz! This will be my 3rd year at camp and every year I just get more and more excited! Woo camp!
Dillon “Flash” Powell: Hey Hey! Flash here! I am super stoked to be working on Operations this year alongside Bugz and Buzz. When I’m not pouring my heart into camp, you can find me in the classroom studying electrical engineering and biochemistry on campus, on the lacrosse field scoring some goals, or on the ambulance working as an EMT. I love to run, listen to music, and drink sweet tea – but more than all of those things I love CK! I can’t wait to sing some songs at camp and make this the best year yet!
Eric “ewok” Wong: What’s poppin guys? My name is ewok and I’m a senior studying computational design in the civil engineering department. Besides trying to spread the Kesem magic during the year, you can find me tossing the disco with the ultimate frisbee team. I’m beyond excited to be one of the Outreach Coordinators for my fourth and final year as a CK counselor!
Emma “Bennu” Griffiths: Hey everyone! My name is Bennu. I am currently a sophomore here at MIT studying Materials Science and Engineering. I like playing and making games, and watching movies. I’m excited to be an outreach coordinator this year! I was lucky enough to be a new counselor last year and the week I spent at camp was even more magiCKal, inspiring, and love-filled than I ever thought possible. I’m so thankful to be a part of this organization, and I’m looking forward to an awesome year on coord board!
Brittany “Scout” Sacks: Hi! I’m Scout, and I am a sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Medical Devices. This is my second year as a counselor, and I am so excited to be working with as a part of this year’s Outreach team! Outside class, I spend most of my time playing soccer, but I also love exploring Boston, traveling, eating yummy food, and meeting new people. I am so excited for another round of Camp Kesem, and I can’t wait to get to know our Kesem community even better throughout the year!
Ana “Pearl” Flooks: Hello friends!! My name is Pearl, and I’m a senior from Connecticut studying Mechanical Engineering and Product Design. I am so incredibly hyped to be a Teen Coordinator this year with Hot Sauce and Clover! Outside of Camp Kesem, I’m also a member of MIT’s varsity lacrosse team and I love eating, hiking, and sleeping (when I can). This will be my fourth and final year at camp (SAD), but I can’t wait to make it the best one yet!
Alain “Hot Sauce” Hyacinthe: Hi everyone! My name is Hot Sauce and I am the spiciest counselor you’ll ever meet! At MIT, I study mechanical engineering with a concentration in medical devices. Outside of class, I really love playing soccer and listening to music. I am super excited to be a Teen coordinator with Pearl and can’t wait to make this year of camp as magical as possible!
Thomas “Nimbus” Allison: Hey y’all! I’m Nimbus, and I’m a junior studying course 2. I love baseball, reading, and clouds (hence the name), and the quickest way to befriend me is to tell me a lame joke (why did the balloon go close to the needle? It wanted to be a POP star!!). I’m going to be a volunteer coordinator this year and I’m really excited to work with all of our counselors, new and returning!
Grayson “Pawnee” Rodriguez: Greetings, current and future friends! I’m Pawnee, and I’m a senior studying chemistry and biology. When I’m not studying, I love riding my bike around Boston, watching comedy specials on Netflix and in person, and visiting my home state of North Carolina. I loved staying in contact with families while on the Outreach Committee in 2017 and am beyond excited to help train and foster community among the counselors while on the Volunteer Committee this year!!
Autumn “Winter” Geil: Hello friends! My name is Winter, and I’m so pumped to be a part of the Volunteer team this year. I’m a sophomore studying Materials Science and Engineering, and outside of class I also have fun in Chamber Chorus, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and Dance Troupe. In the off chance that I get some free time, I cook, read, and go on adventures. I love CK with all my heart, and I can’t wait to see all my peeps at Friends and Family Days this year! #CLAM

Kesem’s national staff of over 30 professionals is involved in all aspects of establishing and supporting each of our 100+ chapters nationwide as well as the training and oversight of all college student leaders. Our leadership program has been developed over the last 17 years and, while both rigorous and demanding, is focused on providing the highest level of support, service and safety for the children who participate in our programs.
The Kesem Program Director for this chapter (see below) is involved in all aspects of camp and our additional services. While your local student leaders are your primary contact for questions, you are also welcome and encouraged to contact their Program Director with other specific questions.
Lauren joined the Camp Kesem National team as a Regional Program Director in 2018. Her love for Camp Kesem began when she got involved during her first year of college, where she served as a Volunteer Coordinator for two years, then Co-Director. Lauren graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Public Health and Neuroscience, where she was also able to use her passion for serving others to get involved with public and global health research projects, focusing on topics including vector borne disease and global conflict. Originally from New Hartford, NY, Lauren currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts.
