Steven “Speedy” Frankenberry: Hello everyone! I am “Speedy”! I have been with Kesem about 3 years now! I have loved every minute of it. I love kids, hate cancer. Graduating in 2 semesters, and then applying to med school. I love hunting, all sports, and my wife and adorable little boy Karson.
Brennen “Ace” Thompson: My name is Brennen Thompson AKA Ace! I’m currently getting prerequisites for Dental School at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I found Kesem during a class that I was teaching on campus. One of the students told me about all the good that Kesem does and I was excited to join! Spending a week straight with our campers doing everything from playing volleyball to paddling around the lake is my definition of Heaven. Kesem Rocks!
Justice “Captain” Garrish: Hey Captain here! I am a Human Biology Major at BYU-Idaho, I hope to go on to medical school to become a physician. I have a cute 1-year old daughter and a beautiful wife who is expecting toward the beginning of next year. My favorite thing about Camp Kesem is the extraordinary people I have met and come to love! They have changed the way I see the world and taught me more about gratitude and the things that matter most.
Jake “Ranger” Goodwin: Hi my name is Jake, I am currently studying Exercise Physiology BYU-I, and I am planning on going to Medical School. I love the outdoors and playing sports especially baseball. I got involved with Camp Kesem through some of my friends and I love it now!
Heather “Feather” Richardson: Hello! I’m Feather and I LOVE CAMP KESEM! My major is public health, and with that I plan on becoming an occupational therapist. One of the neatest things about Kesem is the ongoing support and love everyone on our team has for our campers and their families. My favorite part is the enormous amount of FUN we have at camp! Kesem creates an exciting and open atmosphere where lasting friendships are built. I’m excited to continue to be a part of our big Kesem family!
Matt “Tater” Farnsworth: I am from Castle Rock, CO currently studying Human Biology at BYU-I. I am the youngest of 7 kids and have tons of nieces and nephews and love kids. My wife Shayla, also called “Tots.” Is part of Kesem as well and we have been part of it for the last year and we love it!
Lauren “Pumpkin” Deerfoot: I used to be a pre-med student, but I changed my major to business management in hopes to one day run a nonprofit organization. I found Kesem the night of my 18th birthday during a premedical society in which a few of the volunteer groups on campus were sharing their purpose in hopes to gain more members. I was intrigued and joined immediately and I am glad I did. I LOVE not only being goofy with the kids but getting to become their friend and role model.
Sydney “Firefly” Abplanalp: Hi everyone, my name is Firefly. I’ve been involved with Camp Kesem for almost a year now and love it! I was at a volunteer night for premed society and someone showed Teton Valley’s video from camp and I was hooked! This is an amazing organization and I’m so lucky to be a part of it. I love camping, reading, volleyball, and soccer. I also love spending time with my family, my husband and I have two adorable (and crazy) kids who keep us on our toes.
Alexis “Savage” Savage: Hey, I’m Alexis Savage. I am studying exercise physiology, and one day I want to teach physiology in college. My dad passed away of cancer when I was 15, so I know how important it is for these kids to just forget about life at home, and have fun with other kids who understand. My favorite part about camp is being surrounded by awesome kids and awesome counselors, who are all such good examples to me.

Our leadership program has been developed over the last 17 years and, while both rigorous and demanding, is focused on providing the highest level of support, service and safety for the children who participate in our programs.
The Kesem Program Director for this chapter (see below) is involved in all aspects of camp and our additional services. While your local student leaders are your primary contact for questions, you are also welcome and encouraged to contact their Program Director with other specific questions.
