Meet the Team

Nikki “Salsa” Edwards is a third year studying Business Marketing and Communication Studies. She is from Marietta, GA and has been involved with Camp Kesem for 3 years. Last year she served as a Make the Magic Coordinator and is serving this year as the Co-Executive Director alongside her best friend Crumpet. Her favorite camp activities are messy games, gaga ball, and empower hour. She also enjoys exploring new places with friends and watching UGA football. She is so excited for camp this year!

Shona “Crumpet” Wilson is a third year studying Public Relations and Sports Management. She intends to go into sports media after graduation. Last year she served on the executive board as an AMP coordinator. She loves cabin chat and getting to spend small moments with every camper. When she is not at camp she loves to run, take very amateur photos, and have movie nights with friends! She looks forward to the magic of this year and can’t wait to help make it happen.

Cassidy “Anchor” Chakroun has served as an AMP coordinator on the executive board for the past two years, and she can’t wait to do it again this year! She is a senior from Johns Creek, GA and is double majoring in Entertainment & Media and Communication Studies. Her favorite camp activities include cabin chat and messy games! When she is not at camp, you can find her playing Frisbee, eating Chipotle, or cheering on the dawgs! She cannot wait to connect with all of the campers this summer!

Eliza “Stamps” Meng is a third year Entertainment and Media Studies Major from Roswell, Georgia. Some of her favorite things include hiking, eating ice cream, and traveling/adventuring (which is what she got her name from – she has lots of passport stamps from traveling)! This is her first year on the executive board and she is so excited for what’s to come!

Rachel “Wild” Priest is a third year student studying journalism and history. She grew up in Minnesota, moved to Suwanee, Georgia in high school, and is now happy to call Athens home. This is her second year as an AMP coordinator and her favorite activities at camp include Empowerment and making s’mores! She enjoys being outdoors, taking photos and traveling around the world! Camp Kesem holds a special place in her heart and she can’t wait to be at her favorite place again this summer!

Catie “Eggo” Mazurek is from Woodstock, Georgia and is a second-year double major in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She cannot wait to go back to camp next year. Attending camp was one of the most incredible experiences she has ever had! Her favorite things to do at camp are cabin chat and empowerment. When she is not in school or at camp, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. She is so excited to experience more Kesem magic and meet new campers!

Kamryn “Loco” Taylor is from Johns Creek, GA and is a second year at UGA. She is studying business management and environmental economics. In the future she would like to be a sustainability consultant for businesses. This is her first year on the executive board and she got her name from her intense love of Doritos Locos Tacos from Taco Bell. She is so excited for the year to come!

Katrina “Sparks” Schlechte is a junior Human Development & Family Science major. She loves to read, travel, and spend time outdoors or in coffee shops. Her name comes from her love of fireworks & all things energetic. Her favorite part of Camp Kesem is that it is such a strong reminder that love really does win. Her favorite camp song is the banana song & her favorite game is “Captain is Coming!” She can’t wait for this year & to meet more amazing kids that make camp magical!

Sam “Za” Latzsch is a fourth-year student from Johns Creek, Georgia. He is pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Communication Studies and a certificate in Leadership and Service. Za’s favorite camp activities include Captain’s Coming and gaga ball! Outside of camp, he enjoys bingeing Netflix and cheering on the dawgs. He is already amped to be back at camp this coming summer!

Brooke “Cleats” Etheridge is from Kennesaw, Georgia and is a second-year student studying Finance. She intends on attending law school after undergrad to pursue a career in corporate law. When she grows up she wants to travel the world with her family!Camp Kesem holds a special place in her heart because camp is a home where everyone is welcome and loved on!

Shreya “Muffin” Tailor is a fourth year undergraduate student at UGA studying Health Promotion. She intends on attending dental school, and she hopes to pursue a career in orthodontics. Her favorite camp activities include playing Screaming toes, messy games, and especially empower hour! When not at camp, she enjoys sketching, reading science fiction novels and traveling. Camp Kesem is such a special place and she is so honored to be a part of it!

Bailey “Iris” Hotard is a second year from Harris County, Georgia studying International Affairs. This is her first year serving on Operations, and she is thrilled to be planning everyone’s favorite camp activities! Her personal favorites include the talent show, messy games, and empowerment. When she’s away from camp, you can find her kayaking on a hot summer day, practicing her favorite yoga poses, or reading novels. She looks forward to sharing camp magic with you all this summer!

Savannah “Slopes” Mantele is a fifth year student at UGA studying Health Promotion and Business Management. She is from Littleton, Colorado and that is how she got her name “Slopes”. As an ops coordinator, she gets to plan 2 special weeks of camp for everyone to enjoy! She loves messy games, cabin chat, and meals with new campers! When not at camp, she enjoys weekend getaways to new places and exploring restaurants in Athens. She cannot wait to reconnect with all the families of camp!

Lauren Kate “Pavlov” Scott is from Fayetteville, Georgia and is a second-year student studying Psychology and Spanish. She intends on receiving her masters in non-profit management and leadership and hopes to pursue a career in non-profits like Camp Kesem. This is her first year on the Camp Kesem executive board as an operations coordinator. She hopes to continue to grow within camp for the rest of her college career. Her favorite Kesem activities include messy games and the flume.

Emily “Blades” Gary is a fourth-year special education major from Charlottesville, Virginia. She has served as an outreach coordinator for the past three years, and plans Friends and Family Days, recruits campers, and communicates with families. Her favorite camp activities include gagaball & singing “This is Pepe.” When she is not at camp, she loves watching ice hockey, reading sci-fi novels and playing with her dog. She looks forward to getting to know all our new camper families this summer!

Molly “Wasabi” Ashmore is a third-year Health Promotion major from Greenville, South Carolina. In her spare time, she loves playing piano, hiking, going to concerts, and eating sushi (which is how she got her camp name!). This is her first year serving on the executive board as an outreach coordinator, and she can’t wait to work with our amazing camper families! Camp Kesem holds such a special place in her heart, and she is looking forward to an exciting new year of Kesem magic!

Rylan “Hodor” Shaughnessy is a third-year from Smyrna, GA majoring in Social Work. He is a board game fanatic, sports enthusiast, and art lover. His passion for kids stems from his job at the YMCA, where he has worked as a camp counselor and now lead. Hodor hopes to continue on with his passion for kids with the hopes of becoming a missionary and helping impoverished kids around the world. Camp Kesem has strengthened his passion for helping others as well as created a lifelong family.

Ian “Wombat” Pickens is a Junior from Habersham, GA. He is majoring in MIS at UGA. In his free time, he loves watching The Office. His favorite camp games include Gaga Ball and Capture the Flag. Camp Kesem is important to him because it means being there for people and families and making sure that they understand that they are not alone in their journey with cancer.

Kimsey “Otter” Aguero is a third year from Valdosta, GA majoring in Biological Sciences with an Intent in Pre-Med. She’s pumped to be working on an exec board who can get on a table and sing “Ooh Le-Le”! As a volunteer coordinator, she gets to spend time recruiting new members and encouraging them to spend their summer with our camp Kesem kiddos. She loves to dance, hike, eat and yeah, eat. She’s so excited to spend this year giving back to kids and families who deserve the world!

Luke “Hendrix” D’Agostino is a third-year student and second-year Volunteer Coordinator from Norcross, GA. He studies Public Relations, Spanish, New Media, and Music Business. Outside of school and Kesem, he serves as the president of the TEDxUGA Student Council and is a freelance photographer and videographer in the Athens community. He loves being able to spread the joy of Camp Kesem to others via his role on the board and is eagerly awaiting another summer with the best kids in the world.

Lindsey “Basil” Neel is a third year at UGA. She is double majoring in history and communications with hopes of attending law school. Her favorite camp games are Captain is Coming and Balloon Stomp. During the school year, Lindsey is involved with the Clarke County Mentoring Program and her sorority. She also loves Stephen King novels and watching Survivor. She is excited to recruit amazing new counselors and have another great year at camp!

How Kesem National Supports This Chapter

Kesem’s national staff of over 30 professionals is involved in all aspects of establishing and supporting each of our 100+ chapters nationwide as well as the training and oversight of all college student leaders. Our leadership program has been developed over the last 17 years and, while both rigorous and demanding, is focused on providing the highest level of support, service and safety for the children who participate in our programs.

The Kesem Program Director for this chapter (see below) is involved in all aspects of camp and our additional services. While your local student leaders are your primary contact for questions, you are also welcome and encouraged to contact their Program Director with other specific questions.

Jean-Luc joined the Camp Kesem National team in 2017 as a Regional Program Director. He first got involved with Camp Kesem in 2014 as a counselor with the Camp Kesem at North Carolina chapter and returned as a counselor again for his senior year. After graduating, he worked for Camp Corral, a camping nonprofit that provides military children with a free camping experience. There he was able to learn the ropes of the camping world and develop his passion for camp even more. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2015 with a Bachelor of the Arts in Biology. He is from Raleigh, North Carolina and currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

Kesem's flagship program operates over 100 free summer camps in 40 states for children ages 6 to 18 who have been impacted by a parent's cancer.
