Meet the Team

Felipe “Stitch” Parodi is a senior from Argentina and one of our three Directors! This is his third year on CK E-Board, and he is majoring in Neuroscience. A fun fact about Stitch is that he has three dogs whose names all begin with the letter “C”: Celeste, Carolita, and Chichi! His favorite camp song is “Button Factory,” and his favorite camp memory is his first CK s’more that he shared with his yellow unit his first year.

Amber “Luna” Tavakoly is a senior from Miami and one of our three Directors! This is her second year on CK E-Board, and she is majoring in Psychology and Political Science. A fun fact about Luna is that she gets hiccups when she eats plain baby carrots! She has no favorite camp song because she considers them all to be good, and her favorite camp memory is seeing all of our campers smile and laugh.

Serene “Harmony” Shehadeh is a senior from Coconut Creek and one of our three Directors! This is her second year on CK E-Board, and she is majoring in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Music. A fun fact about Harmony is that she can speak Arabic! Her favorite camp song is “I Get Loose,” and her favorite camp memory is the talent show, where she watches our incredible campers gain the confidence to show off their skills.

Isabella “Rugrat” Cendan is a senior from Miami and one of our three AMP coordinators! This is her second year on CK E-Board, and she is majoring in Electronic Media with minors in Business Marketing, Education, and Art (with a concentration in Photography). A fun fact about Rugrat is that she was in a viral YouTube video that has over 21 million views! Her favorite camp song is “Razzle Dazzle,” and her favorite camp memory is performing camp songs at the talent show with Adrian.

Sandra “Peach” Taboada is a junior from Homestead and one of our three AMP coordinators! She is majoring in Microbiology and Immunology. A fun fact about Peach is that once, she swallowed a penny, because she thought that when Mario would jump across the TV, that he was eating them! Her favorite camp song is “Hey Burrito,” and her favorite camp memory is working as an Arts & Crafts Program Coordinator, because she met all the campers while letting them express themselves.

Vivian “Indy” Heerens is a senior from Carmel and one of our three AMP coordinators! She is majoring in Public Relations and Media Management with a minor in Theater Arts. A fun fact about Indy is that she loves “The Bachelor” saga! Her favorite camp song is “Razzle Dazzle,” and her favorite camp memory is watching her camper perform the cups song at the talent show.

Manuel “Chimi” Pendola is a sophomore from Argentina and one of our three Development coordinators! He is majoring in Finance and Entrepreneurship. A fun fact about Chimi is that he can cook a true Argentinian grilled meal! His favorite camp song is “Razzle Dazzle,” and his favorite camp memory is performing with his green group at the talent show.

Madeleine “Chaca” Smith is a senior from Miami and one of our three Development coordinators! This is her second year on CK E-Board, and she is majoring in Business Law and Marketing. A fun fact about Chaca is that she looks like Lilly from “The Princess Diaries” series! Her favorite camp song is “Brown Squirrel,” and her favorite camp memory is all of the Empowerment Ceremonies she has been a part of.

Kate “Smiley” McSoley is a sophomore from Miami and one of our three Development coordinators! She is majoring in Exercise Physiology. A fun fact about Smiley is that she loves the beach and that she is the middle child of five children! Her favorite camp song is “I Get Loose,” and she is eager to become a part of the Camp Kesem family to take her past trials and experiences to help another kid through theirs.

Amanda “Bumblebee” Lorenzo is a senior from Miami and one of our two Make the Magic coordinators! This is her third year on CK E-Board, and she is majoring in Microbiology and Immunology with a minor in Finance. A fun fact about Bumblebee is that she loves country music! Her favorite camp song is “I’m Alive I’m Awake I’m a Snake,” and her favorite camp memory is every Color Wars that she has been a part of with her campers.

Jacob “Cola” Perez is a senior from Miami and one of our two Make the Magic coordinators! He is majoring in Neuroscience and Philosophy. A fun fact about Cola is that he enjoys being a DJ and spending time with his dog, Bugsy! His favorite camp song is “The Jellyfish,” and his favorite camp memory is the Empowerment Ceremony from his first year as a counselor.

Christine “Tigger” Sanchez is a sophomore from Miami and one of our three Operations coordinators! She is majoring in Biomedical Engineering. A fun fact about Tigger is that even though she has a fear of heights, she has flown a plane! Her favorite camp song is “60s Party,” and her favorite camp memory is being a Program Coordinator, where she was able to interact with each camper during their Adventure activity.

Kristine “Moana” Reynardus is a senior from Miami and one of our three Operations coordinators! This is her second year on CK E-Board, and she is majoring in Public Health. A fun fact about Moana is that she can wiggle her nose like a bunny rabbit! Her favorite camp song is “I Get Loose,” and her favorite camp memory is the talent show, where she gets to watch not only our talented campers act, but the way that they are supported by every other camper no matter what.

Kelly “Squirtle” McLoughlin is a junior from Berkley Heights and one of our three Operations coordinators! She is majoring in Marine Science and Biology with a minor in Environmental Science and Policy. A fun fact about Squirtle is that she has a fraternal twin sister! Her favorite camp song is “Princess Pat,” and her favorite camp memory is lake time with the floating lounges.

Claudia “Stardust” Ramirez is a senior from Miami and one of our four Outreach coordinators! She is majoring in Public Health with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. A fun fact about Stardust is that her favorite color is coral! Her favorite camp song is “I Get Loose,” and her favorite camp memory is seeing how our campers’ confidence skyrockets by the end of camp.

Tracey “Spark” Agyeiwaa-Piasare is a junior from Africa and one of our four Outreach coordinators! This is her second year on CK E-Board, and she is majoring in Public Health with a minor in Education. A fun fact about Spark is that she has been parasailing, the scariest thing that she has ever done in her life! Her favorite camp song is “The Penguin Company,” and her favorite camp memory is when one of her campers stopped having a bad day when she sang “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman.

Gabi “Cher” Aklepi is a junior from Miami and one of our four Outreach coordinators! This is her second year on CK E-Board, and she is majoring in Exercise Physiology with minors in Chemistry and Social Science and Medicine. A fun fact about Cher is that her entire life is yellow! Her favorite camp song is “Razzle Dazzle,” and her favorite camp memory is every year at the talent show, where she gets to see all of our campers come out of their shells and share their amazing talents with us.

Jacobo “Taco” Fux is a junior from Bay Harbor Islands and one of our four Outreach coordinators! He is majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Chemistry, Biology, and Sports Medicine. A fun fact about Taco is that he claims to be the best flosser in the world! His favorite camp song is “Hey Burrito,” and his favorite camp memory is when all of the green group orchestrated a skit from Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Andrew “Smalls” Schwee is a junior from Oviedo and is our Treasurer! He is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. A fun fact about Smalls is that his favorite colors are orange and green, which are our university’s colors (Go ‘Canes)! His favorite camp song is “Shove it Up Your Nose,” and his favorite camp memory was blobbing his campers at the lake.

Herveline “Khaleesi” Saintil is a junior from Fort Lauderdale and one of our three Volunteer Coordinators! She is majoring in Nursing and Psychology with a minor in Public Health. A fun fact about Khaleesi is that she has never gone trick-or-treating for Halloween! Her favorite camp song is “Brown Squirrel,” and her favorite camp memory is when her cabin went out to the middle of the lake and almost sunk the inflatable floaty while singing throwback TV show theme songs.

Alexander “Ukulele” Carbonel is a senior from California and one of our three Volunteer coordinators! He is majoring in Exercise Physiology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. A fun fact about Ukulele is that once, he ate so much shellfish that he made himself allergic to it! His favorite camp song is “60s Party,” and his favorite camp memory is performing in both talent shows, where he played his ukulele with campers.

Abdiel “Biggie” Caballero is a senior from Miami and one of our three Volunteer coordinators! This is his second year on CK E-Board, and he is majoring in Math, Political Science, and Religion. A fun fact about Biggie is that he has extra bones! His favorite camp song is “Button Factory,” and his favorite camp memory is all of the Empowerment Ceremonies that he has been a part of.

How Kesem National Supports This Chapter

Kesem’s national staff of over 30 professionals is involved in all aspects of establishing and supporting each of our 100+ chapters nationwide as well as the training and oversight of all college student leaders. Our leadership program has been developed over the last 17 years and, while both rigorous and demanding, is focused on providing the highest level of support, service and safety for the children who participate in our programs.

The Kesem Program Director for this chapter (see below) is involved in all aspects of camp and our additional services. While your local student leaders are your primary contact for questions, you are also welcome and encouraged to contact their Program Director with other specific questions.

Jean-Luc joined the Camp Kesem National team in 2017 as a Regional Program Director. He first got involved with Camp Kesem in 2014 as a counselor with the Camp Kesem at North Carolina chapter and returned as a counselor again for his senior year. After graduating, he worked for Camp Corral, a camping nonprofit that provides military children with a free camping experience. There he was able to learn the ropes of the camping world and develop his passion for camp even more. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2015 with a Bachelor of the Arts in Biology. He is from Raleigh, North Carolina and currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

Kesem's flagship program operates over 100 free summer camps in 40 states for children ages 6 to 18 who have been impacted by a parent's cancer.
