Sarah “Spud” Ross: Hello!! Spud here!! I am SOOOOO excited for another year of Kesem Magic!!! This is my third year at camp and I am still in awe of this wonderful organization and it’s ability to change lives. When I’m not singing camp songs I am usually attending classes at KU. I am currently a junior studying social welfare and lowkey have a fear of cold cheese. My favorite part of camp is closing circle and watching all of my fellow counselors and campers alike embrace the magic that is Kesem. Rock Chalk!
Jaden “Scout” Sangoi: Hey hi hello! Scout here, ready for another magical year of Kesem:-) I am a junior this year, majoring in behavioral neuroscience & minoring in Spanish while on the pre-med track. I am ALL PUMPED UP to be able to serve as co-Director of Camp Kesem KU this year!! Kesem holds such a special place in my life & I can’t wait to continue to grow our chapter, meet all new people & expand our Kesem family even more this year!
Kristina “Kit-Kat” Nguyen: Hey friends!! My name is Kit-Kat (sometimes I also go by Kristina) and I am a junior studying Biology and minoring in Business this year! One day I hope to be an Orthodontist, but for now you can find me playing soccer, doing anything artsy, watching movies, and cheering on my Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse. I had the absolute best time ever being a Purple Unit counselor at camp this summer and I cannot wait for another year of Kesem magic :)
Molly “Clover” Keane: I joined Kesem my sophomore year of college and didn’t go into it expecting nearly what I got out of it. Kesem has really changed my life. I am extremely passionate about making camp the best week of the year for campers but also trying to keep the magic alive year round. The Kesem community has been nothing short of family to me and I cannot wait to see where it brings me in the future.
Mucia “Moose” Burke: Hello! I’m Moose and this will be my second year with CKKU and I cannot contain my excitement! I am a senior at KU majoring in elementary education. Kesem has filled a place in my heart that I never knew was empty and I am so thankful to be apart of something so amazing.
Patrick “Doc” Riscoe: Hi my name is Doc! I joined Kesem last year and decided to go full throttle and joined Coord Board! Other than Kesem, my hobbies involve working on cars, being outside, and adventuring! My end goal is to get into medical school and go into Trauma medicine :)
Ericka “Ka” Nadeau: Hi, my name is Ka and I am a Sophomore in the Master of Architecture program. Last year was my first year at camp and it was absolutely amazing! I’m so happy to be a part of the Camp Kesem family and to have the opportunity to help bring the Kesem magic to life. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my dog, from hiking to kayak camping we love it all. I’m so pumped for CKKU 2019 and the awesome adventure that awaits!
Anjali “Watson” Pradeep: Hey Kesem fam! My name is Watson and I am one of the Make the Magic Coordinators at the University of Kansas this year! This is my third year with Kesem and I love it more and more each year! Always excited and ready to share the Kesem magic with literally anyone and everyone!
Madison “Jamz!” Schmucker: Hello! My name is Jamz, but I sometimes go by Madison. I am a senior in my second year at KU School of Pharmacy and I am SO pumped to be an Operations Coordinator for CKKU 2019! I love coffee, brownies, spending time with my family and friends, and all things Kesem. This is my third year with Camp Kesem and I can’t wait to spend another year growing our Kesem family and seeing the magic and love that Camp Kesem brings. Can’t wait to see everyone at camp this summer! It’s going to be a blast!!
Jordan “Burger” Berger: My name is Jordan Berger, camp name Burger! I am Co-Operations leader with University of Kansas Camp Kesem chapter. This is my second year of Kesem Magic, first year being on Coord Board!
Manisha “SJ” Ravi: Hello! My name is SJ (short for Shrugs Jr. after my sister) and this is my third year involved in Kesem. I’ve been in blue unit for the past two years and got to be unit leader last year. My coord position last year was one of the AMP coordinators and am sooo excited to be on Outreach this year! I’m so passionate about Kesem and you can find me online shopping for more Kesem gear in my free time.
Jenna “Jelly” Rossillon: Hey hey hey listen up listen up! What’s up everybody? My name is Jelly (Jenna to some I guess), and I am beyond excited to be one of the Outreach Coordinators this year! This is my second year involved in Camp Kesem, and my third year in school studying nursing. I am PUMPED for another year of Kesem Magic. It keeps me laughing and smiling which happens to my two favorite things to do!
Sarah “Munchkin” Glaser: Hey!! I’m Munchkin, and I am a sophomore at KU majoring in Speech Language Hearing and Spanish! I am also learning ASL and hoping to become a Speech Pathologist working with children. I love dancing, watching Grey’s Anatomy, hanging out with my amazing sorority sisters, and of course, ALL things Kesem! This is my second year being a part of the Kesem Family and I am so incredibly thankful to be a part of such an incredible organization!
Carter “Shaggy” Pennington: Zoinks guys! I’m Carter, but most everyone here calls me Shaggy. I am a Senior at KU majoring in Accounting. I’m a three year veteran of Kesem and proud of it. I love to play games, and my favorite Camp Song is Princess Pat.
Chris “Ace” Wright: Hey! Hey! Hey! listen up listen up I am a senior this year studying English and planning to go to law school. I love pizza, cookies, movies but most of all I LOVE KESEM. Kesem has influenced me so much over this past year and I cant wait to continue as volunteer coordinator.
Lily “Tuck” Machalek: Hey!! My name is Tuck, and I’m a sophomore studying Speech Pathology at KU. This is my second year at CKKU, but my first time on Coord Board. I’m super pumped for everything this year, and I’m already counting down the days until camp!! In my spare time I love to eat, hang with friends, and exercise. My favorite part of camp is singing camp songs and eating s’mores!

Kesem’s national staff of over 30 professionals is involved in all aspects of establishing and supporting each of our 100+ chapters nationwide as well as the training and oversight of all college student leaders. Our leadership program has been developed over the last 17 years and, while both rigorous and demanding, is focused on providing the highest level of support, service and safety for the children who participate in our programs.
The Kesem Program Director for this chapter (see below) is involved in all aspects of camp and our additional services. While your local student leaders are your primary contact for questions, you are also welcome and encouraged to contact their Program Director with other specific questions.
Shane joined the Camp Kesem National team as a Regional Program Director in 2019. Shane first became involved with Camp Kesem as an inaugural member of the University of Kansas's chapter in 2016. During his time at the University of Kansas, Shane served as a counselor, Outreach Coordinator, Co-Director, and Advisory Board Member. Shane graduated from the University of Kansas in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Global and International Studies. Upon graduating from the University of Kansas, he has worked for the International Relations Council as the Membership Consultant and Assistant. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Shane now resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
