Mieke “Truffle” Voges: Hey, I’m Truffle and this is my fourth year in Kesem! I love to bake sweet things, sit on my couch and giggle with my friends, and maintain eye contact with my dog for long periods of time. Also, when I was a kid, I ate shredded cheddar cheese sandwiches for lunch for over a year. Not grilled cheese, just cold shredded mild cheddar cheese between two slices of bread.
Theo “Turbo” Christopulos: Hi! My name is Turbo and I am a 3rd year business major. My favorite food is sushi and I’m from Sacramento, CA(916 woohoo). I Kesem because I want to give these kids the same experience I got when I was a camper at Camp Kesem. Fun fact, my mom took me to Coachella!
Claire “Happy Feet” Machado: Hi I’m Happy Feet, because I like to dance and identify with Mumble in Happy Feet the movie. I am a history major who wants to be a big cool lawyer one day. If I’m not doing Kesem or school I love reading, hiking, or just hanging out with some good friends and good food also I really like my dog/all dogs.
Adriana “Pinto” Weiss: Hello!! I’m Pinto and I’m SO excited for my second year in Kesem!! I got my name because in high school my friends used to call me bean girl because of my avid love for all kinds of beans: black beans, pinto beans, kidney beans… just to name a few. I’m a Political Science major, avid Netflix watcher, and I love to sing and perform!!
Cate “Groove” Cutcliffe: Hey I’m Groove! One of my favorite camp memories from this summer was playing Grandma Theresa in the counselor skit, and my campers not realizing it was me onstage! Two random facts about me are that I’ve never held a baby and I also sneeze when I’m cold.
Phillip “Oregano” de Lorimier: Hey hey! My name’s Oregano (A.K.A. Italian Herb Boy or Regs) and I’m one of this year’s Development coordinators along with my pal Groove. This community has meant so much to me over the years, given me friends, and guidance through tough times. I love cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors, and I’m also a huge fan of Star Wars!!
Divya “Zion” Jain: Hey y’all! I’m Zion, a third year Architecture major from Boston, Massachusetts! I joined Camp Kesem in 2017, and I am so excited to be a Special Events Coordinator this year. Outside of Kesem, I love photography, hiking, and art museums!
Chris “Chef” Hall: I’m Chef and I’m super excited to be on the coord team this year! Grew up in the midwest (brrr) and yes, I am Swedish! Here comes another crazy fact… I love to cook! Put one and one together and there you go, that’s how I got to be the Swedish Chef. I joined Kesem my second semester of my freshman year at Cal, and I haven’t looked back since. Counting down the days to camp next summer 🙂
Ellie “Sarabi” Sun: Hello! I’m Sarabi and I am going into my last year in Kesem on the Operations team! I love hiking, reading, baking, trying new foods… and I’ve once been so tired I fell asleep for a few minutes while riding a horse.
Mark “CoolSportzGuy (CSG)” Mcguire: Hello there. I am CSG. CSG stands for CoolSportzGuy, but I have also been known as ChildSizedGiant and SuperCoolSportzGuy. My favorite sports include frisbee, volleyball, curling. I like painting, playing the drums and trumpet. My canine teeth are pretty long and pointy, but I don’t bite!
Yoshio “Uncle Samurai” Boris: Hey guys my name is Uncle Samurai. I am currently a senior studying Molecular and Cell Biology. In my free time you will find me in outdoors either swimming, hiking, or camping. A fun fact about me is that when I was little I was in the Sunday newspaper as a child model for Macy’s clothing.
Tatum “Big Three” Sandzimier: Hello, my name is Big Three! I was named Big Three because my favorite tv show is “This is Us,” my dad calls me number three because I was the third one born in my family, and I have three brothers! I love running, surfing, hiking, playing cards, and going on road trips!
Celine “Ikea” Payne: I’m Ikea, and I’m so grateful that I get to be an outreach coordinator and look forward to getting to know and support camper families! In my free time I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, volleyball, going hiking, making videos, and goofing around with friends!
Tre “Fusion” Fitts: Hi y’all! My name is Fusion! I was given the name “Fusion” due to my ‘fuzed’ cultural identity (Black and Japanese-American!) and my unwavering passion for “fusion foods” like bulgogi tacos (a personal favorite). I love playing soccer and volleyball, adventuring, and eating of course!
Lienna “Catnap” Chan: I’m Catnap and my favorite camp memory is running the science program rotation and having really successful bottle rockets explode up ridiculously far into the trees! I love doing gymnastics, listening to & playing music, learning new and weird things about the world, and lifting weights…. and I like to handstand all around the world in as many different countries that I can get to!
Emily “Tortuga” Spivack: I’m Tortuga, a fourth year CogSci major and love the brain! If I’m not doing school or Kesem, I’m probably baking up some cookies or running around with dogs. Fun fact? I can fold my tongue in half and have never seen Titanic. The only movies I watch with boats are Pirates of the Caribbean’s – exclusively the first three…obviously.
James “Hairbender” Serrano: My name is Hairbender and you know what I got! If you want a haircut that’s hotter than hot, I got you and also if you want to talk about Avatar the Last Airbender I got you. I’m HYPE to be a part of coord this year and get to see all our little caterpillaz grow into beautiful butterflies. GO KESEM!!
